Accomodation

COST: 3.000.000 VND

(333.000 VND per night for each scholar)

The house has 7 bedrooms, 13 beds, 1 maid, and a swimming pool. (this changed from original larger house as 11 scholars and not 20 signed up).

​

Each of the 11 scholars will have their own bed with each bedroom having a full bathroom.​

​

Maids will make and order food for the scholars.

​

FOR INSURANCE, EACH SCHOLAR WILL HAVE "TRAVELER INSURANCE": NO SCHOLAR MAY RIDE MOTORBIKES OR JETSKI RENTALS.

transportation

Scholars will take shuttle vans to Vung Tau, getting picked up near the school (GS25 Minimart) at 4 PM on Friday, March 14th, 2025.

While in Vung Tau, scholars will use electric carts to go from the house to afternoon classes, if weather permits, this is in hillside coffee shops with nice views (transport: Carts, Taxi, Walking, Bicycle, Grab in VT).

GREENLINES DP Ferry back to Saigon, drops everyone off in the center of town at 2 PM on Sunday, March 23rd (Ben Nghe Terminal - HCMC Ferry).

Safety: Buddy System

For the sake of safety, single scholars are not allowed to go outside of the house area. They must be with another scholar, and all scholars will return to the house by 8:30pm.​

  1. Morning Routine:

    • 8:30 AM: Daily wake-up time.

    • 9:00 AM: Breakfast followed by a discussion on poems.

  2. Morning Session:

    • 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Poem discussion.

    • Break: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

  3. Afternoon Session:

    • 1:30 PM: Resume poem discussions.

    • 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Afternoon session held at a location outside the house.

  4. Evening Activity: Return by 8:30 PM

    • 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Collaborative writing analysis session.

CERTIFICATE

COST: 3.250.000 VND

(8 days of studying, 7 hrs/day = $2/hour + Certificate delivered)

 

Each SCHOLAR will complete the course in the 8 days of studying, which totals 55+ hours of coursework.

 

This course shall cover 60 poems, 60 poets and each scholar shall complete the online tests and quizzes in order to receive the certificate from University of Pennsylvania for ModPo (Modern Poetry).

FOOD

The two maids from the house will buy, order, arrange things for the scholars.  This is one of the main advantages to this house. Scholars can order as they like with the maids, order for delivery, or go eat meals together.

 

FOOD BUYING IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PROPOSAL. 

Walking Hills and sundown beaches

  1. Daily Outdoor Activities:

    • Scholars are invited to participate in a variety of outdoor activities each day.

    • These activities include:

      • Exploring hill roads and paths.

      • Walking along the expansive "back beach."

      • Strolling on scenic boardwalks.
         

  2. Free Time and Relaxation:

    • While scholars will be occupied with their studies, they will have approximately 5 hours per day for outdoor activities or relaxation at the house.

    • A maid will be present at all times to assist and supervise any scholars who choose to stay indoors.
