MODPO VUNG TAU

Transportation

This trip is scheduled to/from Vung Tau using Greenlines leaving from Ben Tau Ferry Station, in District 1.  For convenience of cars in and out, we will meet at the Katinat Cafe there.

While in Vung Tau, foot and bicycle are regular options, while longer rides will use 7-seater Grab options.

ACCOMMODATION

Vung Tau offers many options at affordable rates for weekday accommodation. Babylon is right on a favorite street of ours and has great local choices for food 5mns away on foot. Excellent standard of rooms, full services and licensing with insurance, care professionals in the case of emergency, and the local knowledge and understanding that scholarZacademy likes to secure for our camps.

FOOD

THIS IS INCLUDED and priced at 100k VND per meal, 3 meals for 5 full days = 1m500 for the trip.  Breakfast is included, so the options for lunch and dinner can increase by 50k VND each if scholars eat the multi-course buffet at the resort.

Parents Plan The Meals! Choose from options on a daily basis, and the price is inclusive of a milk tea and/or icecream during study sessions in the hillside cafes Vung Tau offers.

CERTIFICATE

The certificate is for 5 weeks of Modern and Contemporary Poetry (known as ModPo) from the University of Pennsylvania and The Kelley Writer's House, founded by Al Filreis, the 40 year tenured professor and founder of ModPo and The Kelley Writer's House.

There is no certificate from Coursera offered, though this is the curriculum platform used by scholarZacademy.  Each scholar shall be eligible to join the annual symposium of ModPo held live in November each year.

The entire course is 10-weeks and scholars can finish on their own, as they are entered in the class or can finish with scholarZacademy camps held in Spring and Summer times in Vung Tau.

ENTERTAINMENT

The group structure of the camp makes group activities more fun.  Everyone is included all of the time as we move from local fishing holes using bamboo rods to sunrise walks on the big back beach to flying kites along the emoticons park at the far front of the peninsula to basketball at sun up to swimming at the resort to hillside walks up Vi Ba Street to walking the boardwalk and discussing sculptured works in the park where 5 poetry works per scholar are a part of the course.

INSURANCE

Each of the scholars shall have "traveler insurance" in the case of injury during the trip.  In addition, Babylon is insured and the locations we are eating and studying at will also be reputable and licensed.
